POSITANO, ITALY--(Marketwired - Aug. 26, 2022) - Authentic Italian pasta meals have never tasted so good while being so-good-for-you too thanks to Ciro De Gennaro and Frank Sinatra’s secret recipe for his Mama’s pasta sauce. “Mrs. Frank Sinatra’s spaghetti and meatballs is exactly what I expected. The best meatballs and sauce I have ever tasted in my life!!” said Ciro De Gennaro, President and CEO of Ciro De Gennaro SpA. Frank Sinatra’s recipe for Italian Tomato Sauce was published initially by Mainliner magazine in 1973; the recipe is his mother’s Natalie Della Garaventa, aka Dolly Sinatra’s original recipe.
Frank Sinatra first introduced his fresh tomato sauce on “Dinah's Place,” the 1970’s half hour daily potpourri with Dinah Shore, on NBC‐TV. This led to the commercialization by San Francisco-based Armanino Foods of Distinction Inc., and its subsidiary, Artanis Foods International, a limited partnership which had marketed the four Sinatra sauces. “Artanis” is Sinatra spelled backwards. Ciro De Gennaro SpA is re-introducing The Chairman of the Board’s signature spaghetti sauces under the Opera Sauce™ brand to avoid any Trademark Infringement litigation with the Francis Albert Sinatra Estate. While typical tomato sauces simply mix tomato paste with dehydrated ingredients in a process lasting only eight minutes, Gennaro's Sauces highlight fresh ingredients and take approximately one hour to produce. Each variety is made in small batches, using San Marzano tomatoes picked at peak ripeness—just like Frank Sinatra’s “Rat Pack” restaurant “La Dolce Vita” on Santa Monica Boulevard in Beverly Hills, California.
Gennaro has overseen the entire production process, painstakingly testing hundreds of iterations to ensure that the jarred sauces meet Old Blue Eyes high standards. Opera sauces come in 16-oz. and 24-oz. jars, and are offered in four authentic Italian flavors, Mona Lisa’s Naturale Salsa, Zazza’s Limoncello, Frank Sinatra’s Marinara, and The Godfather’s Spaghetti Sauce, which are made with 100% Napoli garden tomatoes. The Godfather’s Spaghetti Sauce is a Nostalgic recipe based on a scene from the movie "The Godfather": "Heh, come over here, kid, learn something. You never know, you might have to cook for 20 guys someday. You see, you start out with a little bit of oil. Then you fry some garlic. Then you throw in some tomatoes, tomato paste, you fry it; ya make sure it doesn't stick. You get it to a boil; you shove in all your sausage and your meatballs; heh…paesano? And a little bit o' wine. An' a little bit o' sugar, and that's my trick." --- Peter Clemenza in 'The Godfather'"
The company uses high-quality San Marzano Tomatoes sourced from a family-owned farm in Southern Italy. San Marzano tomatoes grow in the Italian region of Agro Sarnese Nocerino in the Sarno River valley close to Mount Vesuvius. There, the rich volcanic soil has the right soil pH needed to produce these sweeter and less acidic tomatoes. Ciro De Gennaro SpA Pasta Sauces are sold in 16-oz. or 24-oz. bottles for a suggested retail price of $5.99 – $8.99 per jar and are available now at https://operasauce.webnode.co.uk. Opera Sauces will be available at retailers nationwide.
